Community-level water purification operating systems providing safe, affordable water to underserved populations.

Economically and Locally Sustainable Enterprises
This initiative demonstrates the potential for safe water kiosks – which process and sell affordable, purified water – to address the potable water needs in millions of underserved communities. To own, operate and maintain the safe water enterprises for the long-term, we prioritize the following key operating requirements:
  • Local capacity building programs
  • Training, manuals and toolkits
  • Demand generation programs
  • Quality assurance programs
  • Appropriate technologies
  • Water delivery models
  • Capital-recovery models (from water revenues)
Our safe water kiosk initiatives in India, Ghana and Kenya seek to impact health and socio-economic development and inform approaches for replication on a
broader scale.
