Support The Village Of Jookal, India

My father, the late actor and philanthropist Paul Newman, would have turned 87 on January 26th, 2012. As with every birthday since his passing, Mom and I will fondly reflect upon his many accomplishments and celebrate his wisdom, passion, and love for humankind.

As a family, we have always been proud of the humanitarian efforts my father advocated throughout his life. In his last years he focused much energy on establishing Safe Water Network with the goal of developing sustainable solutions to the serious challenge of clean water scarcity that threatens nearly a billion people. Dad used to say this was one of his legacies, and today we know he would be proud of how far it has come.

This year we’ve decided to celebrate Dad’s birthday a different way − by giving the essential, long-lasting gift of safe water to the rural village of Jookal in India, where many families and children are suffering from serious illness caused by harmful contaminants in the local water. Each donation will be matched by an anonymous donor and be used to build a water purification plant and promote health and hygiene throughout the community.

Please join our family in celebrating Dad’s memory by helping us bring sustainable safe water to the people of Jookal. Follow us on Twitter to stay up to date on the process of our work and the tremendous impact we are making in Jookal. Your support is the greatest gift of all.

Best wishes,
Clea Newman
