Allen Merrill leads Safe Water Network’s global strategic planning and program initiatives around operating and financial sustainability, for accelerating toward sector scale and impact. He also works closely with the CEO and Global Management Committee on global organizational design and performance, as well as Board engagement. In addition, Allen leads our global Technical/Advisory Services program, aimed at enabling and assisting others in the small water enterprise sector.
Allen has a background in development finance, management consulting, digital and mobile finance, and technology start-ups. Allen was previously with USAID, a Partner at McKinsey & Company, a Director at Bain & Company, Head of Global Business Development for MasterCard Advisors, President of Cassis International (a mobile payments/commerce start-up), and Senior Advisor at Dalberg Global Development Advisors.
Allen has lived and worked twelve years in Asia, five years in Latin America (fluent in Spanish), and four years in Europe. He has helped develop new businesses in multiple regions and worked with leading public and private sector organizations around the world.
Allen holds an Honors BA in International Relations from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an M/Phil in International Relations and Economics from Oxford University, and a Mid-Career MPA in Finance from Harvard University.
